The New City:

The principal commercial area of the city spreads outward from the intersection of Murtala Muhammed Road and Lagos/ Airport Road. Several banks have their offices in buildings immediately to the south of this junction. The GPO also is to the south on Lagos Road. The railway station is conveniently located a short distance away on Fagge Road. Igbo and Yoruba workers are concentrated in the new township area coming up on Club Road, to the north of Murtala Muhammed Road. The effervescent atmosphere is typically south Nigerian. Tourists can visit the Sabon Gari market to pick up some genuine traditional craftwork items.
